The five early bird sessions offered at the 2015 MREA Annual Conference features timely education and dialogues on everything from early learning standards and teacher job satisfaction to engaging students with technology and American Indian education. Learn more about each session below.

Great Beginnings: When Learning Starts Early, Inspires and Applies kicks off Nov. 15 with 90-minute workshops that give participants a deeper understanding of the topic as well as dialogue and engagement with the presenter and other participants. The early bird sessions are available to anyone who registers for the entire conference November 15-17.

High-Quality Early Learning: Unpacking NAEYC Standards

Dr. Susan Hedges with the National Association for the Education of Young Children and Jessie Watson with New Horizons Academy will familiarize participants with the content of NAEYC’s accreditation system for early learning program improvement.

Leadership Practices & Teacher Job Satisfaction

Dr. Heidi Hahn, Director of Special Education for the Paul Bunyan Education Cooperative, will share research on job satisfaction showing the keys to teacher morale and job satisfaction are the principal and the leadership that the building principal provides.

Indian Education 101: How Policy Shapes Student Experience

Dennis W. Olson Jr., Director of the Office of Indian Education for the Minnesota Department of Education, will discuss the barriers American Indian students face in school and ways in which professional staff, parents, and community members can be involved.

Engaging Students with Technology

Brandon Raymo, Assistant Director of the Minnesota River Valley Education District, will help participants integrate technology into curriculum using Dr. Ruben Puentedura’s SAMR model as a framework.

Maximize Your MREA Conference Connections

Marnita Schroedl, Founder and Social Capitalist of Marnita’s Table, returns to the conference to introduce the Intentional Social Interaction (ISI) philosophy to help conference participants get the most from their conference networking.
