MREA’s membership elected one new and two incumbent directors to the 2017 MREA Board of Directors during December elections. More than 330 ballots were cast for the three vacancies. Each director will serve a 4-year term.

New Director

Lance Bagstad
At-Large Representative, North Central Zone
Bagstad is Superintendent of Park Rapids Schools.

Returning Directors

Micheal Hamilton
School Board Representative, South Zon

Hamilton is a School Board Member at Plainview-Elgin-Millville Schools.

Luther Heller
Administrator Representative, South Central Zone

Heller is Superintendent of Montevideo Schools.

Election results were effective January 1, and Bagstad will formally join the Board at the January 30-31 meeting in St. Paul. The Board will also appoint a North Agency representative and an interim South Central Zone/School Board representative, bringing the total of new directors in 2017 to three.

Mills Reappointed

Chris Mills, Adjunct Professor at Minnesota State University — Moorhead, was reappointed by the Board in October to another 4-year term as North Higher Education representative. Mills is also Superintendent of Stephen-Argyle Schools and was MREA Board President in 2015.

Board to Elect Executive Committee in January

The Board will elect the President-Elect and Secretary/Treasurer positions and appoint the fifth member of the Executive Committee at its January meeting. Rick Frederickson, School Board Member with Windom Area Schools, replaces Jeremy Kovash, North Agency Director, as Board President.
