Who’s Eligible?

Nominated programs must have been implemented in the current academic year at a current MREA member school organization. Programs must have been in place for at least 3 years. Programs that have received the award in previous years are ineligible.   View Member Districts

School staff, colleagues, students, parents or community members may submit nominations.

What’s the selection process?

The MREA Board of Directors review and judge the nominations based on the set criteria and select an honoree.

  • Fall: Honorees Announced
  • Nov. 17: Awards Banquet

MREA’s School Innovation Award recognizes school programs in Greater Minnesota that serve as inspiring examples by demonstrating:

  • Innovation — What made this program unique?
  • Benefit to Students — How did your students benefit from this program?
  • Collaborative Effort — What other individuals, groups and/or agencies worked on developing this program?
  • Ease of Adaptability — How can other districts replicate this program?

Honorees will receive two complimentary tickets to the banquet. Nominated programs are invited to showcase their program at the Summit Showcase at MREA’s Greater Education Summit.
