Telecommunications Grants Available Now

By July 20, 2013 No Comments

A recent Telehealth Grant offered by the US Department of Agriculture program will allow rural school districts across the nation, an opportunity to obtain a $500,000 Distant Learning and Telehealth Grant, offered by the USDA.

US Tele-Medicine, a leader in telehealth services is offering a Matching Funds Program that will enable school districts across the USA to obtain the grant.

The Distance Learning and Telemedicine (DLT) Program provides both educational and healthcare opportunities in rural communities through grants that finance advanced telecommunications technologies. The focus is on using the unique capabilities of telecommunications to connect rural areas to each other and to the world, thus overcoming the effects of remoteness and low population density. DLT, which began in 1993, has funded more than 1,400 projects totaling $512 million.

Projects funded by these grants have allowed rural residents to benefit from healthcare services provided to rural clinics and hospitals through broadband infrastructure.

“US Telemedicine believes rural school children and their teachers should be allowed access to healthcare without having to travel great distances, or be limited to the quality or type of healthcare available to them,” said von Speyer, “but money has always been the consideration. This opportunity provided by Secretary Tom Vilsack should be embraced by all rural school districts and it can now be a reality by taking advantage of our Matching Funds Program.”

US Tele-Medicine is a leading telemedicine care provider for America’s self-funded corporations and governments. By placing a telemedicine device enabled with video-conferencing and vital sign sensors, in schools and providing instant 24/7 Medical response, schools save significantly on healthcare costs, enjoy cost containment practices and greatly increase access to healthcare, a dire circumstance in rural America. Care is immediate and available in all states.

US Tele-Medicine is the only American telemedicine firm certified as “Experts” by the EU Commission on Health and recognized as a leading research center by CORDIS, the EU scientific division.

Applications grant submission closes on August 12, 2013.
