Be the Voice of Rural Education at MN State Fair

By August 28, 2015 No Comments

If you are planning to attend the Minnesota State Fair that runs through Labor Day, MREA encourages you to be the Voice of Greater Minnesota Education by talking with legislators who will be there. You can also be the Speaker of the House at the House of Representatives exhibit at the fair.

Let legislators know about these education issues critical to rural education in Minnesota:

  • Equity in Facilities and Technology
  • The Crisis of Teacher Shortages
  • Broadband Access
  • Early Learning

Learn more about these issues.

View the list of representatives planning to volunteer (as of Aug. 26) and the districts they represent.

The House of Representatives exhibit gives you a great opportunity to feel what it is like to stand in the position of Speaker of the House, complete with a replica of the House Speaker’s desk, flags, and a portrait of Abraham Lincoln. While you are learning about the portrait’s history, take your “selfie” to post on social media as you grab the Speaker’s gavel. The exhibit is located in the Education Building on Cosgrove Street, just north of Dan Patch Avenue.
