Tyler Warren has made it his mission to find new opportunities to help prepare students for their future careers. Since joining the Eden Valley-Watkins team, Warren has led the addition of a series of new classes and programs.

He partnered with local businesses to create a state-approved apprenticeship program to help students get a jump start on industry skills and allow them to make connections in their career paths.

He led the development of a new Advanced Welding class for technical college credit and a concurrent enrollment Agronomy course.

MREA named Warren 2018 Educators of Excellence for Greater Minnesota for his collaborative efforts to better prepare students for the future. View video of Warren accepting the award to learn more about his work.

Warren wants students to understand the workforce needs and see where they can fit. The district’s Work Experience program now includes a prerequisite course created by Warren called “Classroom to Careers” where students learn workplace soft skills, explore careers, and participate in a mentor program with General Mills employees.

Doing all he can to support a “grow your own” solution to the technical trades worker shortage, Warren is also a very active Future Farmers of America (FFA) Advisor. Under his leadership, 80 students in grades 7-12 are involved in FFA, with a record 13 EVW students earning FFA State Degrees last year.
